ARSENAL AFTER BENFICA STAR

The season is less than two months left and many clubs have begun to look at potential incomings ahead of next season. Latest reports from Italy claim that Arsenal are planning on making a bid for Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo.

The Spaniard has been impressive during his time in Portugal and is one of the top-rated young left back in Europe.  Spanish side Atletico Madrid are also looking at the 23-year-old as they look to replace Lucas Hernandez. The French defender recently made a move to Bayern Munich this week for a record fee of €80 million.

Arsenal are believed to be searching for a replacement in the left-back position as Nacho Monreal is 34 years and expected to leave the club in the summer. Italian tabloid Tuttosportclaims that Benfica values the defender at around €40million.

Juventus are also believed to be looking at the player as Alex Sandro could be set to leave the club in the summer. Marcelo had been seen as a possible replacement but the arrival of Zinedine Zidane is likely to see the defender remain in the club.

Benficaare known to be a selling club and would be willing to sell the player for the right price. Meanwhile, in other news, Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be tracking Benfica teenager Jota according to Portuguese tabloid A Bola.

It is reported that Tottenham sent scouts to watch the forward in Portugal under-20s against England. the 19-year-old is considered to be one of the hot prospects in the club and made his PrimeiraLiga and Champions League debut this season.

It is understood that Jota has a £25.5million release clause but Benfica are looking to tie him down to a longer deal.
